Baptism & First Communion

Baptism

In the Episcopal Church baptism is “full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.” People of all ages and stages of life are invited to enter into a lifelong journey with Christ through the sacrament of baptism.

Baptism is most especially appropriate on the first Sunday after Epiphany, Easter Eve, Feast of Pentecost, All Saints’ Day, and when a bishop visits. We encourage you to plan for one of those days. However, the Rector can schedule baptisms at other time for pastoral reasons.

For more information and to schedule a consultation with one of clergy, please submit the following form. We look forward to helping you discover God’s life in you and those you love.

If you or a family member are interested in being baptized, please let us know by completing the Baptismal Request Form.

First Communion

The Episcopal Church allows all who have been baptized to receive Holy Communion. St. George recognizes that family and friends often like to celebrate when an individual participates, and offers a First Communion class. For information, please contact Fr. Lopez or Happy Wilson at 210.342.4261 or send an email to

All baptized students in the 1st–5th grades are invited to attend a 5-week First Communion class series! The curriculum we use is modeled on the Eucharist format: We Gather (Lesson 1), We Hear and We Respond to the Word of God (Lesson 2), We Offer our Gifts (Lesson 3), We Celebrate (Lesson 4) and We are Sent Out (Lesson 5).

Because children learn with all their senses, activities and instruction will be included that engage them throughout each lesson.

The classes will be led by Happy Wilson during the 10:00 AM worship service. Fr. Ram will lead lesson 4, We Celebrate, after the 10:00 AM worship service.

The next First Communion service will be announced. You may register your child for the First Communion classes by contacting Happy Wilson at .
