Haiti Partnership Report

August 04, 2025

In 2009 and in partnership with St. George School, we began a relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ at St. Benoit Church and School in Mombin Crochu, Haiti. Through the National Episcopal Church’s Haiti Partnership Program and our School’s very successful annual Chain of Love fundraising event, we have helped them build a new school facility, a new kitchen, a new church building, and recently funded the building of three more classrooms, a library, and the start of a rectory construction. The Chain of Love project also helps fund students, teachers, and meals. In addition, these funds have helped them to implement new curriculum and programs that make St. Benoit a beacon of educational and religious support in the Mombin Crochu area. Also, in partnership with the Texas Water Mission, a functioning well and water system was implemented to serve the whole community.

We are pleased to confirm that the 2025 Chain of Love campaign raised a total of approximately $29,500!

Unfortunately, due to the deterioration of the political crisis in Haiti, The St. George teams were unable to make another trip to Mombin Crochu. However, we stayed connected with our friends through consistent emails throughout the year. In fact, we received beautiful pictures and videos of the student activities that have taken place at St. Benoît School and church. Events included the students' carnival, St Valentine’s Day party, the parade of St. Benoît’s Day (Fête de St Benoît), and the fanfare playing for the Flag’s Day.  These letters and images provide hope and help us to look to a bright future through St. Benoît. This year we were also able to hold a video chat between St. Benoît and St. George students. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to ask questions and learn from our partners.

We continue our mission to support our brothers and sisters at St. Benoît and always make sure to share in love, vision, and friendship. Therefore, we are trying to work very closely with the new Rector, Fr. Bernier, who kindly sent this report below:

  • The school now counts 408 students from Kindergarten to 8th grade.
  • Teachers and staff are being paid.
  • Students are being fed from the food program.
  • The construction has begun on a rectory for the campus instead of the rented space that St. Benoît had before.
  • Construction and completion of three new classrooms to add 7th and 8th grades this school year.
