Kids for Christ (KFC) was inspired by Proverbs 22:15, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
KFC Service meets monthly, alternating between interactive and fun faith-based formation, exciting fellowship activities, and service opportunities where each child will participate in a community outreach project or event. We welcome all children from third-fifth grade to join the fun and to bring a friend! Please see the calendar for the next meeting.
KFC Chapel is our newest weekly offering to the Kids for Christ program and is an active curriculum based offering during the children’s chapel time of our 10:45am service. As with our other children’s chapel offerings, it is a bible based, leader friendly, highly interactive and age-appropriate weekly offering for this age group.
Boomers & Bloomers, one of the ways we engage with our seniors, meets the third Wednesday of each month for food, fellowship, and a special program. All are invited, especially our senior members.
Boomers & Bloomers provides opportunities for our senior members to spend time with friends while learning or doing something interesting on the third week of our Wisdom Years Wednesdays. A light lunch is also included. The average attendance is 12 folks, so there's room for many more.
This year's activities included a talk about the importance of nutrition, chair yoga, Bunco (who knew there were so many ways to play!), info about cybersecurity, Plaza de Paz, Hummingbird Hospice, Northeast Service Assistance, meditation, and Visio Divina.
If you have an idea of a topic for Boomers & Bloomers, please contact Alana Woods.
The Coffee and Conversation class allows participants to learn, in a comfortable, low-pressure setting, more about our Christian faith and how God is at work in our lives. Facilitated by Peggy and Paul Foerster, we open and close with prayer, read any applicable scripture, then use a reading from a Biblically based book as a springboard for discussion.
Currently we are using Jamie Clark-Soles’ book Reading John for Dear life: A Spiritual Walk with the Fourth Gospel. Clark-Soles is a Professor of New Testament at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. Her grasp of Hebrew and Greek allows her to bring more precise interpretation to scripture. For example, when Jesus is quoted as saying “you,” she can interpret whether He is speaking to a group or to an individual. Earlier books we have used ranged from classics such as C. S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity to lighter-spirit ones like John theology Ortberg’s If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat!
During discussions, participants find that they feel safe to share incidents that have assured them that God is at work in their lives, knowing that “things revealed in C&C stay in C&C.” Faith grows, even if you simply listen to the “conversation.” There’s no “homework”—each class session is self-contained. And there is no rush to “cover” material—we concentrate on “uncovering” ideas. Weekly emails and eSpear announcements ensure no loss of continuity if other church activities cause you to miss a class.
We meet 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. Participate either in person (St. Mark’s Room, upstairs in the Leadership Center), or by Zoom by clicking the link below or entering 854 1623 0282 as the Meeting ID. No password is needed.

Bible and book studies are held at 10:30 every Wednesday morning in the St. John room in the Leadership Center. We’ve studied St. Luke and St. Mark. We also read and discussed “The First Advent in Palestine.”
Our monthly Theology à la Carte get-togethers continued through 2024. Our meetings are attended by a steadfast group of regulars…including some folks from outside our parish community! …and other folks who drop in from time to time. As the organizer, I send reminders out in advance of each meeting, and with the help of input from our participants, I do my best to come up with a knotty theological question for the group to grapple with. Often, but not always, we use the previous Sunday’s sermon as a jumping off point for our discussion. Of course, our attendees often bring questions or spiritual puzzlements of their own, adding to the richness of our discussions. Our attendees, being intellectually curious and even mischievous, make sure our conversations are animated and far ranging. We see this in keeping with the meeting’s name, as we view scripture as a rich and diverse smorgasbord, if you will, of topics relevant to how we lead our lives in keeping with Christ’s message. That sounds heavy, I know, but we actually have a whole lot of fun, even during lent!
Our meetings take place on the third Wednesday of each month. We gather around 4:30 PM and begin our discussion at about 5:00. We try to wind up by 6:00, but often, our discussions take us a bit past that hour, and occasionally, some of us will cap the off the evening by sharing a meal together.
We have been experimenting with different locations for our meetings, trying to find one that best suits the needs and preferences of our participants.
Of course, all are invited to join us. For more information and the location of the next meeting, contact me at 210-573-4242 or .
In 2024, a new organization was born at St George! Women of St George was organized to combine the functions and purposes of our inactive Daughters of the King chapter with an Episcopal Church Women chapter. At the heart of the group is the wish to be of service to one another, to St George, and to the community around us. Our purpose is to deepen our faith through prayer, service, and study.
The group meets after church on the third Sunday of each month. We enjoy a social time, corporate prayer, and a short program. So far our programs have included a presentation by the Family Specialist at Larkspur Elementary, two programs that explored Prayer through Art led by Alana Woods, and a presentation on Intercessory prayer presented by Rosalind Hervey. We have completed two service projects. In November, WSG completed a very successful coat drive for the students at Larkspur Elementary School. In December, we raised money, bought and wrapped gifts, and provided Christmas gifts for several families whose children attend Larkspur. In addition, we have an ongoing effort to provide healthy shelf stable snacks, underwear, and socks to the school to be used as needed throughout the school year.
So far WSG is off to a great start! The only thing we need is you. Any woman who attends St George is already a member. Just come join the fun and get a blessing! Check the eSpear for time and place.
