Immigration Ministries

August 28, 2020 Called to Serve

The Diocese of West Texas has recently initiated a robust Immigration Ministry to help our brothers and sisters in Christ going through the immigration process here in the U.S. St. George’s own Bernadette Williams, Director of Music Ministry, has joined the effort to assist this diocesan ministry with Haitian families who have recently been released from the detention centers by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In coordination with the immigration agencies in South Texas, Bernadette and other volunteers have been helping in many ways. Bernadette helps with translation services for the Haitians who are not able to speak English. The group recently helped by supporting a family that was expecting to go through the process of delivering her baby at a local hospital, which can be daunting if you don’t understand our healthcare system. They help other families to find sponsors for the next step of their journey. Join us in praying for our Haitian Sisters and Brothers on this very difficult journey of their lives and praying for the continued success and support of this diocesan ministry. Contact Bernadette at bwilliams@saintgeorgechurch.org for more information if you would like to be a part of this work!
